We toured Parma with Laura in February 2020. We enjoyed it so much that we asked her to design a one-day itinerary when we returned to Italy in a group of five family members in October 2023.

We emailed back and forth extensively with Laura to finalize the best possible itinerary to please all of our traveling party. Laura was prompt. diligent, and thorough in her replies. Once we had finalized our itinerary for the day, I appealed to her for help in obtaining a driver to tour Bari, as my own efforts had been unsuccessful. Laura and her own driver came through, finding a driver who proved to be competent and friendly, enabling us to visit the two famous towns, Matera, and Alborobello, and the Castellano Caves in one busy day. Again, we communicated back and forth numerous times to finalize this, and we never could have done it without Laura’s help.

As to our tour with her in Parma, it was outstanding. Laura and her driver (we needed a van for our party of 5) picked us up at the train station, and we made it to a Parmesan cheese facility while it was still in operation on a Friday morning. It was fascinating for everyone, and we two enjoyed seeing a different and much larger facility than the one we’d visited with Laura in 2020.

Visiting the Parma ham facility was also very interesting, and the lunch afterwards was most pleasurable. She also arranged a brief stop at a small winery, where we enjoyed talking to the young manager and sampling a variety of his wines.

Laura had lined up a cooking class for us at the nearby Gastronomia Orlandini (reviewed separately). We had decided on this with some trepidation, as two of the family members in our party were retired restaurateurs who know their way around a kitchen. We shouldn’t have worried. Francesca, the vivacious instructor. thoroughly entertained us and taught us all something about preparing a variety of pastas. It was yet another highlight of a day of highlights.

Laura knows Parma, her English is excellent, and she shares very interesting information about the region that she clearly loves. I don’t think we ever asked her a question that she couldn’t answer.

Having dealt with Laura on two separate occasions, and taking particular note of all of the additional assistance she cheerfully provided us gratis in facilitating a tour in Bari. we can offer the very highest recommendation for her services as a guide.

The three to five-year-old Parmigiano Reggiano that we bought and packed into our suitcases arrived home with us safely, and will be a delicious reminder of our day in Parma. Grazie mille, Laura!

My wife and I had a wonderful Parma food tour with Laura. We toured a Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese maker and a Prosciutto di Parma producer. She clearly explained the production processes and the consortia they belong. We saw both processes from start to finish, and she answered our many questions. I suggest starting a tour punctually at the time Laura suggests. We did, and we were treated to seeing the entire cheese making process live. As a native of Parma, Laura also provided us with a lot of interesting local history and context. At the end of the tour, we had a generous lunch at the ham producer which included examples of Parma cheeses, meats, pasta, wines, and desserts. While her tour with us was in English, she helped us with some of our Italian and described some differences in local dialect. I would highly recommend her to guide you through the Parma food valley.

We did a tour here and it was very high quality. However we had a private tour guide. This is a bit of a factory-type cheese production place with high volume, but it's still a worthwhile experience. A smaller producer may be more intimate and make better cheese.
