We found Antonio Somma in Rick Steves' Rome 2017 book while considering a privately guided tour of Pompei. We tend toward our own research, staying away from the guided tours, but Anthony was a great find. He is extremely knowledgeable, speaks English very well, and is significantly more affordable than some of the guides our family considered. On the recommendation of a friend, we did a late afternoon tour beginning at 4pm. The crowds had died down and the heat was less of an issue. Antonio made our afternoon so much more interesting than would otherwise have been the case. He has a great sense of humor, which was key for our 17 year old, who has about a 60 minute attention span. Antonio stretched that comfortably to two hours, and we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon exploring Pompei with a seasoned local guide who has great appreciation for the city's history.

My husband and I visited Pompeii on our honeymoon. We usually like to explore and read on our own but decided to do a tour in Pompeii because of our limited time in the city. Rick Steves recommended Anotonio and colleagues for a private tour which is why we booked through Antonio’s company. They were extremely accommodating, providing a private driver from Naples to Pompeii, two hour private tour in Pompeii and then continued private drive to Positano. Sal, our guide in Pompeii who also is an archeologist, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and funny. He provided a well paced enjoyable and informative tour through Pompeii. The two hour tour was just perfect, allowing us to see the main sites of the city in a timely fashion. Mario, our private driver, was very pleasant and kind and took great care of us while navigating through the crazy scooters and traffic encountered in Italy. We had such a wonderful time and are very pleased with our choice of tours. I would highly recommend Antonio and his team while visiting Pompeii and/or traveling to the Amalfi coast.

Pompeii is a huge place and it takes a guide to help you see the highlights. We found Antonio Somma/PompeiTours from the recommendation by Rick Steves in his 2019 travel book. We wanted a private tour of Pompeii so that we could go at our own pace, we wanted the tour to be family friendly and could show us the highlights in the short time we had. This tour met our expectations and beyond. Antonio Somma and our guide Elena met us at the circumvesuviana stop (Pompei Scavi-Villa). They were waiting with a sign with our name. Very easy and convenient to meet up. Elena did an amazing job showing us key highlights to help us really understand the life of the people of Pompeii at the time of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. She was patient with our kids and so informative, all for a reasonal price. Highly recommend!

Excellent guide services, we were greeted on time and connected with our private tour guide. Fabio was articulate in four languages and a scholar in archeology and anthropology, so the tour was perfect for us. We appreciated the well paced tour without being overwhelmed. Fabio was very professional and yet personable. We had a great day and highly recommend Mr. Somma’s organization.
